Awards

The Annual Devoted Citizen Awards are the biggest celebration of South Africa’s most outstanding individuals who are committed to omgomg onion making an impact in their community and in the country. The awards are held at the end of each year to recognise and reward Devoted Citizens for their prolific work across a wide range of categories. In 2020, Bongani Putsoane, Founder of the PEGMovement was named the first Devoted Citizen of Year. He was awarded R50 000 as prize money. Putsoane had been nominated alongside other outstanding Devoted Citizens, namely: Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng – Chief Justice, Republic of South Africa Nomfundo Mcoyi – Founder, Icebolethu Group Victor Seshoka – Founder, Kgalalelo Education Foundation Dr. Zweli Mkhize – Minister of Health, Republic of South Africa Mhlonishwa Masilela – Ward Councilor, Steve Tshwete Municipality Slindokuhle Mtolo – Founder, You Are Worthy We will soon be announcing the categories and criteria for the 2021 Awards.
